CCR Planning & Why We Chose a Podcast
As we moved into the final stage of our project, we began planning our Creative Critical Reflection (CCR). The CCR is designed to explain our decisions, development, and understanding of media throughout the production process.
Instead of presenting our answers in a traditional written format, we decided to create a podcast-style discussion.
We chose a podcast because it allows us to present our ideas in a more natural and engaging way.
A podcast:
- Feels like a real conversation rather than a formal essay
- Allows us to explain our ideas more clearly
- Makes it easier to show reflection and understanding
This format also reflects how modern media is consumed, making our CCR more relevant and creative.
This was not our first time using a podcast format. During our midterm, we practiced a similar style of discussion.
Because of that experience:
- We felt more comfortable speaking about our work
- We understood how to structure a conversation
- We were able to improve the quality of our responses
This shows development from our midterm to our final project, not just in filmmaking but also in how we present our analysis.
We structured our podcast to cover all required CCR questions, including:
- How our film uses genre conventions
- How it represents social groups
- How we engage with audiences
- How our production skills developed
- How we used technology
We made sure to include film terminology and refer directly to our own project, The Boss’s Shadow, to keep our answers specific.
Instead of reading from a script, we designed the podcast to feel like a back-and-forth conversation.
This helps:
- Make the discussion sound more authentic
- Keep the listener engaged
- Avoid sounding overly rehearsed
We also included moments where we reflect on challenges and improvements, which shows deeper understanding.
The biggest lesson from planning our CCR is that how you present your ideas is just as important as the ideas themselves.
By choosing a podcast format, we are able to communicate our understanding in a more engaging and effective way.
